Jorge Miguel Bernal Mares
 

   Miguel is a lawyer from Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico. He is a Corporate and Commercial Law and litigation specialist with extensive expertise in both the public and private sectors.  

 

 He holds several postgraduate diplomas including, most notably, the Diploma in Commercial Arbitration awarded by the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC). Currently he is pursuing an MBA at Universidad Anáhuac. These programmes underpin his practice and enable him to render a specialist service to all of his clients.

 

  At Estudio Legal Bernal, Miguel specialises in Commercial, Corporate and Financial Law as well as Arbitration. He is regularly instructed by a diverse range of clients on complex matters in these specialist practice areas. Additionally, Miguel is a member of the board and the governing body of a number of renowned real estate and energy companies in Mexico.

 

   Before joining private practice, Miguel served as a judicial officer at the Federal Court of Justice for Administrative Matters in Mexico (previously the Federal Court of Justice for Fiscal and Administrative Matters). There his responsibilities included overseeing hearings and writing judicial decisions in interim, interlocutory and ancillary judicial proceedings. This experience rendered him an expert in judicial interpretation and application.

Miguel Bernal Trani

 

   Miguel has a distinguished legal practice dating back to 1984. He is a lawyer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He holds a postgraduate degree in judicial review (constitutional law), fiscal law and corporate and economic law awarded by Universidad Panamericana and a Diploma in Commercial Arbitration awarded by Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM).

 

   Miguel is a qualified Arbitrator. He is often appointed as an Arbitrator in institutional arbitrations under renowned institutions such as CANACO, ICC and LCIA. Equally, he accepts instructions to represent parties as counsel in complex arbitrations.

 

   Additionally, he is a member of the of the governing body of various trusts and a member of the board and the governing body of a number of real estate and energy companies in Mexico.

 

   Miguel has been a visiting professor at several higher education institutions including:

​

- Escuela Libre de Derecho, where he taught the Law of Obligations and Commercial Law;

- La Salle University, where he taught Contract Law, Private Law and Constitutional Law; and

- Anahuac University, where he taught the Commercial Bankruptcy and International Trade Law.

 

   He is a regular speaker at symposiums, conferences and workshops and is often invited to deliver lectures on Commercial Law, Civil Litigation and Arbitration. He is the Co-author of "Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Arbitration" published by Themis.

Michel Reznik
 

 Michel is a banking and financial services specialist. He brings a wealth of experience of working with leading financial services institutions including global investment banks and investment managers.

 

  At Estudio Legal Bernal he continues to work with these institutions and their clients. His industry expertise enables him to render a technical and specialist service across several of the ELB practice areas. He also represents clients in high-value financial services disputes.

 

   In his last role before joining ELB, Michel led the Legal & Compliance team at a multi-asset investment manager in London and reported directly to the Chief Executive Officer. In this role he was personally authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for two Senior Management Functions (SMF): SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) and SMF17 (MLRO).

 

   Michel regularly publishes in leading publications and is often invited to speak at events and symposiums. He has also taught law at university undergraduate and postgraduate level.

 

   He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics, which is ranked 2nd by QS World University Rankings.

 

  He is a member of ‘Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats’ (AIJA) and the UK Bar Association for Commerce, Finance and Industry (BACFI).

Jordi M. Olivet Ledesma

 

  Jordi is a lawyer from the Autonomous University of Querétaro in Mexico. He has a broad practice in both the public and private sectors.

 

 Jordi holds several postgraduate diplomas awarded by the Autonomous University of Querétaro. This includes a diploma in mediation from the Faculty of Political Sciences and a diploma in oral proceedings from the Faculty of Law. Currently, he is pursuing a specialist postgraduate degree in Private Law.

 

 At Estudio Legal Bernal, Jordi is a litigation specialist that specialises in civil, commercial and family disputes. He also has extensive expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Real Estate law.

 

  Prior to joining Estudio Legal Bernal, Jordi worked for several renowned private practice firms. Most notably he was instructed by one of Mexico’s largest real estate conglomerates. He was responsible for working with several government departments and for ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations including the Federal Law for the Prevention and Identification of Operations made from Proceeds of Illicit Gains.

 

 Jordi has taught courses such as the "Celebration of Life" programme at the State System for Integral Development of the Family of the State of Querétaro in Mexico.

 

 He is the co-author of the book "Legal arguments in civil matters" published by Diasofia. Jordi has an active interest in the progress and necessities of the modern society, which has led him to produce a manual explaining how judicial review proceedings can facilitate equality within marriages.

Alicia Contreras Villanueva

 

 Alicia is a lawyer from the Autonomous University of Querétaro in Mexico. Prior to joining Estudio Legal Bernal, she worked in the public sector, most notably, for the Querétaro Institute of Women of the State Government of Querétaro, where she represented women that were victims of violence.

 

 She has continued her personal and professional development by completing a number of diplomas and courses including:

​

(i) Techniques in commercial litigation conducted by the National Institute of Legal and Litigation Training (Instituto Nacional de Capacitación Jurídica y Juicio Oral);

​

(ii) Diploma in Environmental Law awarded by the IUS NATURA litigation consultancy; and

​

(iii) Symposium of Contemporary Law at the Autonomous University of Querétaro.

​

 At Estudio Legal Bernal Alicia is a litigation specialist who acts for a broad range of commercial and private clients in all forms of dispute resolution.
